Study Cue
Our story

Built by a student. Built for students.

Study Cue started as a personal problem — too many subjects, too little time, and study tools that felt like they were designed for anyone but students. We built the tool we wished we had.

Our mission
“To give every student access to the same quality of study support that used to require expensive tutors or elite school resources.”
What we believe

Values that shape every decision.

Student-first, always

Every design decision is evaluated through one lens: does this help students study better? We don't optimize for engagement — we optimize for results.

Clarity over complexity

AI tools can be overwhelming. We strip away everything unnecessary so the student can focus on what matters — learning, not navigating software.

Privacy by default

Your documents and study data are yours. We never train models on your content or share your data with third parties. Full stop.

Built with community

Our roadmap is driven by student feedback. Features that exist today were requested by real students — and that's exactly how we'll keep building.

Accessible for everyone

Academic success shouldn't be gated by budget. The free tier is generous by design — every student deserves powerful study tools regardless of finances.

Grounded in science

Every feature — from spaced repetition in study plans to timed focus sessions — is grounded in peer-reviewed cognitive science research.

How we got here

The story so far.

Late 2025
The problem became personal

Brian, a student struggling to manage multiple exam dates and scattered study materials, started building a tool to organise his own academic life.

Early 2026
First version ships

The beta launched with PDF Chat, a basic study planner, and a focus timer. A small group of university friends tested it — feedback was immediate and honest.

Feb 2026
Public beta opens

Study Cue opened to the public. 200+ students joined within the first few weeks from universities across Kenya and beyond.

2026+
Building with students

Every sprint is driven by student feedback. The roadmap is public, the team is small, and the mission is unchanged — help every student study smarter.
